In-Custody Program Director
Olivia Lopes started volunteering with RP in April 2015 and joined our staff that November as our In-Custody Program Director. Originally from this area, Olivia has studied and worked in Senegal, Peru, Rwanda, and Morocco on a particular quest to understand violence and its resolution. She received her BA in Foreign Languages and Africana Studies from Scripps College in Claremont, California, was a Fulbright scholar in Rwanda, is a trained AVP and T4C facilitator, and is a certified yoga instructor, with a particular focus on trauma-informed mindfulness practices. She believes wholeheartedly in the constant practice of choosing peace and is profoundly excited that she gets to spend her days with our men, women, and youth in custody as well as with our volunteers--showing up for one another to reconcile our selves in kin-ection.
