Julia Collins is from San Diego starting her journey in Drug and Alcohol counseling in May of 1995 as a Residential Treatment program counselor assistant, facilitating client education groups. Julia completed the Addiction Studies program at San Diego City College in 1998 after completing many intern and volunteer hours at Charter Hospital’s Alvarado Parkway Institute Adolescent Unit and Mental Health Systems Harmony Women’s Recovery Center. She started employment with Mental Health Systems in 1999 at Mid Coast Counseling and Recovery Center in San Diego. Working as a treatment counselor for Drug Court, CPS, CAlWorks, Dual Diagnosis and Probation clients. In 2001 Mental Health Systems offered Julia a position in San Luis Obispo as Program Coordinator for the San Luis Obispo Drug Court program, which later became San Luis Obispo Center For Change where Julia was responsible for Drug Court, Prop-36, Parolee Programs, Federal Probation Mental Health program and an extensive drug testing program within the center. More recently Julia worked at Bryan’s House for Women and Children from 2013-2015 as a weekend manager. Julia has been a certified drug and alcohol counselor through the Addiction Counselor Certification Board of California (CAADE)since 2000. She is also a Certified Intervention Specialist through Gateway Intervention Credentialing Board and a Certified Personal Trainer at Paso Robles Sports Club. She is married with 4 children and 7 grandchildren and has been in recovery herself since February 1993.
