Our restorative justice programs provide classes and workshops to the San Luis Obispo County to empower learning and positive community engagement for all.
1 on 1 Spiritual Counseling
When: Wednesdays and Sundays
Community members counsel individuals one on one and reflect on spirituality as a source of healing and hope.
When: Mondays and Wednesdays
Community AA and NA Members provide 12 step Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous groups.
(AVP) Alternatives to Violence Project Workshops
When: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays
Experiential relationship building workshops empowering people to lead more nonviolent lives.
Art classes and projects for the youth to encourage creative self-expression and a way to process their life experiences.
Bible study and prayer for youth with an interest in Christianity with volunteers from Central Coast Youth for Christ and Shoreline Calvary Chapel.
When: Last Monday of every month
Every youth in the facility is treated with a cupcake and those with birthdays receive a card and song from the volunteers.
When: Last Friday of every month
Book club meets to discuss books chosen for their relevance, appeal, and educational value. Funding for these books is provided by generous volunteers, United Way Youth Board and donations from the SLO County Public Library.
Chess club provides youth with a stimulating yet rewarding activity that improves memory, problem-solving skills, and ability to think ahead.
Creative writing program teaches youth self-expression, literary concepts, and writing styles.
Guitar instructors teach basic to intermediate guitar skills and concepts to help with recovery.
When: Every other Friday
Book donations are screened, catalogued, and tracked rotating books between storage and housing units.
Ping Pong Program
Youth get to participate in this sport that puts coordination, quickness, and strategy to the test against their peers and our wonderful volunteers!
Pro-social Sports and Games
Includes stretching, warm-ups, and sports in the yard, where youth learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition.
Local attorneys help youth understand the California Penal Code and answer any questions they might have about juvenile law.
Scripture Sunday Service with Bible readings, music, and communion.
Youth receive assistance with schoolwork or just talk and play cards. When schoolwork is completed, we play cards and visit.
Yoga and Meditation
When: Wednesdays and Fridays
Gentle yoga and meditation sessions promote body awareness, physical health, and mindfulness.
