The Garden Project at the Honor Farm
April 07th, 2016
Over the last year, the men and women who participate in the Garden Project have shown increasing commitment to learning more about gardening and growing- including growing their capacity to give.
One of the most evident rewards of the Honor Farmers’ work is that the harvest directly impacts their daily life and that of those around them. All produce is used in the Honor Farm kitchen—which supplies meals to the entire Jail and the Juvenile Hall. Currently, the Garden Project only supplements the kitchen’s production. Our hope is to expand our capacity to make a more significant impact on food production in the Jail kitchen.
A crucial piece of this expansion is increasing Honor Farmers and volunteers’ engagement to further cultivate the sense of community. In this line, we will be holding Garden Group Work Days one Sunday a month. No previous gardening experience is necessary to attend. Upcoming group work days are:
Sunday, April 24th - 9:30-11:30am
Sunday, May 29th - 9:30-11:30am
If you are cleared to enter the Jail with RP and would like to join us, please contact our Garden Project Program Leader, Jill Bleher: firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to join us, but are not yet cleared to enter the facility, please contact Olivia to register for our next Volunteer Orientation: Olivia@restorativepartners.org.
